It’s been exciting seeing a Brisbane music technology start-up by Nick Crocker / Ben Johnston and Wotnews getting a colossal amount of attention on Tumblr, Twitter, TechCrunch, Mumbrella, Wired and news.com.au as well as hundreds of blogs.

We Are Hunted is a daily music chart that generates a list of the 99 most popular songs based on information gained by tracking online music services like BitTorrent, Last.fm, MySpace Music and discussion activity about the songs on social networks, forums, blogs, and Twitter.

This really is rad.

Finally, it is a chart for the music that people really talked about and listened to instead of the regular BS chart system that is based on sales in selective offline and online stores. Nice.

Using the internet to allow fans to help fund a musician’s album making process so they can avoid having a record label is easy with sites like Slicethepie and Sellaband.

But Australian singer Clint Crighton is providing more incentive for people to invest in his music project.

One of the one thousand people who put $100 towards the album will win a ten day trip to Los Angeles to see Crighton recording the album. As well as this, all the people who contribute will get free entrance into Crighton’s live shows for the rest of their natural lives. Sweet!

We love any idea that is simple, cheap, subverts the norm and produces outstanding results. The Black Cab Sessions ticks every box by recording a band performing one song in the back of a London black cab.

‘We offer a lift to a touring band from their hotel to the venue, so they can always fit it into their schedule. But I think it’s the stripped-down situation and the challenge of a single take that tempt the bands.’

Some of the 40 or so bands to have taken part so far include The Futureheads, Death Cab For Cutie, The Kooks, and The Ravonettes. Be sure to check it out, it’s a wonderful concept that is perfect for the web.

Unsigned UK band The Get Out Clause know you don’t need a to have a proper camera crew and equipment when the very Orwellian 13 million CCTV cameras in the UK are capturing footage 24/7.

Apple Mac Music Video
This song performed entirely on the desktop interface of a Apple Mac and its programs. Though, people are saying it is a sneaky web promo sort of like Levi’s viral we blogged about a few days ago. Still, looks pretty freaking sweet.
