Competitor Activism: Don’t buy bottled water!
Last year 16 million gallons of oil were consumed to make plastic water bottles.
One of three adverts for a water filtration pitcher company that is taking a shot at the bottled water industry. It’s a USA campaign. You don’t see competitor activism much in Australia. Our defamation laws scare copywriters away from doing anything that risky.

We are certainly contributing to this problem here in the big brown land…
In the next year Australians are expected to drink 242 megalitres of bottled water, the equivalent of 19 600-millilitre bottles each. IBIS World predicts a boom in “premium” water as manufacturers claw back the higher costs of producing the plastic bottles from a crude oil derivative. via Brisbane Times
There’s a real movement afoot on the www to explain to the world just how effing terrible bottled water really is because we’re addicted to the pretentiousness of high priced beautifully packaged water that is no better than tap water.
Tappening is my fave anti-bottled water blog because as well as informing people of the issue and their argument, they acknowledge the convenience/unfortunate cool factor of water bottles by encouraging you to buy a sexy reusable bottle instead. Tops.
